Window Condensation

Windows and doors are very important additions to any household. For starters, they allow natural light inside and properly ventilate homes.

Without them, a house will never be efficient and liveable. For that very reason, most homeowners quickly assume that a small incident like window sweating is already a sign of leakage and that they need to call for a contractor immediately. In most cases, that is not what it is. Here are some reasons why your windows are sweating.

Window Condensation

A leakage on your replacement windows can be quite alarming; however, before replacing them,

make sure that it is not just window condensation. When warm moist air comes into contact with a cooler surface, moisture will form on the surface, and it is called window condensation. It is common and can happen in any household because moisture can come from anywhere since vapor pressure can force it through plaster, wood, brick and cement. Surprisingly, everyday living activities like cooking and showering can produce moisture.

What Should I do?

First of all, if you do not mind the look of a sweating window, then it’s best to leave it as it is. Window condensation is not a bad thing after all. It even proves that your windows have good tight seals and are energy-efficient.

However, if you prefer having a clear view all day round, what you should do is reduce the humidity in your home. Be sure to vent all your gas appliances like clothes dryers and exhaust fans outside. Moreover, your attic should have proper ventilation, and vapor barriers should be installed in your crawl space. Lastly, start running exhaust fans while doing daily activities that produce moisture.

"Very pleased with installation of six windows and a ProVia entry door. I love the look of the windows and door. I am pleased that my wife is thrilled with the look of the door. She is very pleased that the bronze color fits in well with the color of the brick."

"I just had my Renewal by Andersen windows installed and couldn’t be happier, the entire process went very smoothly. The windows are high quality and look great. But the installers Roy, Zack and Jordan were the stars, they introduced themselves upon arrival walked me thru everything they were going to do and when they finished took me to each window to make sure I was completely satisfied. They were clean and courteous and I would definitely recommend and have them work in my home again."

"Wonderful experience with knowledgeable, competent employees. We had Andersen windows in a previous house & didn’t even consider anything else this time. After replacing our patio door almost two years ago, we replaced all our windows this year. What a difference over builder-grade windows, especially in the really cold temperatures we’ve had this year. Andersen windows may be a little more expensive than other brands, but they are top quality."
