No home remodeling project has ever been completed without making some kind of a mess. It’s unavoidable, but true; yet, it can be reduced. Here are some tips on how to make your remodeling project less of a mess.
Keep the Drop Cloths Away From Paths
Almost every window installer uses drop cloths around the windows during installation. A thoughtful and considerate installer will make sure that the drop cloths won’t get in the way. Unlike most types of remodeling projects, you can continue using the house while the windows are being installed.
Improperly placed drop cloths can be a tripping hazard and just seems unsightly when the area is not in use.
Use Tarps and Plastic Coverings
The areas around the windows need to be protected against dust. It comes from the old windows as they get removed. This includes plaster dust and the immediate outdoors after the old windows are removed. Covering your valuables, electronics and furniture with tarp or plastic covering can make it easier to clean up after the installers are finished. In addition to using tarp and dust covers, our installers thoroughly clean all the work areas to ensure not one speck of dust remains after they’re done.
Take Out What You Can
If you have one-of-a-kind items on display – perhaps, some rare books or a valuable piece of art – it would be better to take them out of the house for the duration of the project. You may end up spending a few more dollars for storage, but it can save you from damaging potentially priceless items.
Keep Your Pets Away
The noise and sudden presence of people can stress your furry loved ones. Make arrangements to temporary rehome them during your window replacement project, maybe at friends or family, or your trusted vet. Your pets may also get in the way of the installers or even contribute to the mess by shedding or urinating indoors out of fear. By taking preemptive measures, your window replacement project – and any other remodeling project, for that matter – can be less of a mess.
